Consultant Profile - Ross Chiswell

Ross Chiswell is a veteran of the wireless industry, pioneering the introduction of many wireless technologies and products to Australia throughout his career. His excellent problem solving abilities enable him to match the right wireless technology solutions to business opportunities and needs. His presentation skills and passion for wireless mean he is an excellent speaker and sought after industry commentator. Almost all of the first 30 hits from a worldwide Google search using his name are about Ross Chiswell and the wireless sector.

Ross began his involvement with wireless technologies in 1992 with the WaveLAN products from NCR, AT&T and Lucent Technologies. In 1996 he founded a value added distribution company Integrity Data Systems Pty Ltd, which specialised in wireless technologies. This company grew to a $5 million-plus distribution business, winning awards such as BRW’s Fast 100 (number 46) in 2001 and Deloitte’s Fast 50 (number 6 in SA) in 2002 as one of Australia’s fastest growing companies. Integrity Data Systems was a finalist in the 2001 and 2002 Telstra Small Business Awards, competing against more than 100 other organisations, and Ross Chiswell himself was an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year finalist in 2002.

Expansion plans in 2004/05 led to the company being sold to TR Corporation in November 2005, where Ross took the position of National Sales Manager for TR Telecom. In this role he was responsible for the integration of existing Integrity Data Systems vendor relationships and sales to the distribution channel, along with supporting the division’s push into the emerging carrier and wireless ISP markets. In the first half of 2006 the TR Telecom division achieved its sales budget and established its position as Australia’s largest distributor of wireless networking technologies.

In August of 2006 Ross joined Colubris Networks as ANZ Sales Director to help Colubris establish new channel relationships and break into the enterprise market space within the region and was sucessfull in seting up two new distribution channels laying the foundation for grow in the region.

In 2007 working as a consultant for Airspace Technologies, Ross has been involved in a range of design projects including the role of a Wireless IP Specialist for the SKM & KBR joint venture to BHP Billiton's Olympic Dam Expansion project where he helped design a Wireless IP network for the largest mine site in the world.

Ross has been a speaker and presenter on a range of wireless-related topics at numerous industry events including Networld+Interop Australia; Australian Government House of Representatives – Standing Committee on Communications, Information Technology and the Arts, Wireless Broadband Technologies and Wireless Summit 2005. Ross was also Chairman of the key note panel discussion on Wireless Broadband and WiMAX at Wireless Summit 2006, and Managing the Wireless Enterprise at Wireless Summit 2008  

Ross is regularly interviewed and quoted by industry trade magazines such as Australian Reseller News (ARN) and Computer Reseller News for his perspective on wireless and channel-related issues. Ross also writes a regular column for Cabling Connection magazine.
